Facial Procedures
Due to time and gravity, the soft tissue of the face is the first part of our bodies to display signs of aging. Dr. Epperson offers many options to improve the appearance of the face, neck and ears to create a more youthful and energized look.
Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)
Rhinoplasty involves changing the shape of the nose by surgically increasing, decreasing or altering the nasal bone and cartilage. This procedure can be accomplished in several different ways, depending on your desired look.
You might consider rhinoplasty if you have a nose that appears too large for your face, a bump on the nasal bridge when viewed in profile, your nose seems too wide when viewed from the front, a previous injury has made your nose asymmetrical or it is naturally crooked or off-center. Other reasons may be the nasal tip droops, plunges, is thickened or enlarged or your nostrils flare excessively.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Fat deposits and sagging skin around the eyes can create a puffy, tired look. In order to achieve a more open and alert appearance, excess tissue is removed from the upper and/or lower eyelids and the skin is lifted.
Good candidates for eyelid surgery may have excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelids, impaired vision from loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids, a puffy appearance that makes eyes look tired, droopy lower eyelids and bags or circles under the eyes.
Facelift
The facelift is a very versatile procedure that can be performed using many different techniques to create subtle or dramatic results. Based on the bone structure of your face, as well as skin structure, elasticity and texture, Dr. Epperson will advise you on the best way to achieve your desired appearance.
Ear Reshaping (Otoplasty)
Protruding ears, large ears or abnormally-shaped ears may be corrected with otoplasty. Depending on the nature and severity of your problem, Dr. Epperson will select the proper surgery technique. The ear structure is usually manipulated by reducing or reshaping the supporting tissue called cartilage. Ear surgery very seldom has significant complications and is often recommended for children as young as five or six.
Brow Lift
A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is used to smooth out wrinkles, frown lines and visible signs of aging. Sagging or low positioning of the eyebrows, forehead creases and worry lines between the brows can be lifted and tightened to accomplish a fresher, younger appearance. Depending on the nature of your procedure, a brow lift can sometimes be performed using short incisions and endoscopic techniques.
Chin Implants
Receding or “weak” chins may be augmented using chin implants. During this procedure, the structure of the jaw is altered using a biocompatible implant in order to create a stonger, wider chin and, if need be, lengthen the face. Chin implants are ideal for those who have a normally functioning jaw, but a mildly weak chin. Severely recessed chins and/or abnormally functioning jaws require a more advanced surgical procedure.
Liposuction
Liposuction may be used in conjunction with facial procedures to remove excess fat from areas such as the neck, jowl and eyelids. Once the fat is removed, the tissues and muscle in the face may be stretched and tightened, achieving a rejuvenated and youthful appearance.
