Breast Procedures
Over time, a woman’s body–including her bustline–changes. These changes may be due to natural occurrences such as aging, pregnancy and weight loss or they may be the result of previous implants. Whatever the cause, these imperfections can lead to self-consciousness and poor self-esteem—but with the proper procedure, we can re-sculpt your body and preserve your confidence.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is one of the most common cosmetic procedures and involves enlargement of the breasts through implants. By adding fullness and improving symmetry and proportion, we create a natural, balanced look that complements the rest of your body.
A good candidate for breast augmentation often feels her breasts are too small and experiences anxiety and self-consciousness about wearing a swimsuit or form-fitting clothes. Or her body may not be proportionate, meaning one breast is smaller than the other or clothes fit well at the hips, but not at the bustline.
Time and life changes may also cause a desire for enhancement. Childbirth can cause breasts to become smaller and lose their firmness. Weight loss can alter the size and shape of breasts. If you have experienced any of these feelings or conditions, you may want to consider breast augmentation.
Breast Lift
Many women are happy with the size of their breasts, but due to poor skin elasticity, major weight loss or pregnancy, they lose firmness and shape. In order to achieve a more youthful appearance, excess skin is removed and the remaining tissue is raised.
You might be a good candidate for a breast lift if you have breasts that are an adequate size, but pendulous or lack firmness and fullness. You might also consider surgery if you have nipples or areolas that point downward, especially if they are positioned below the breast crease.
Breast Reduction
A breast reduction may be desired to relieve physical discomfort associated with large breasts. In this case, excess tissue is removed, resulting in improved size and shape. Usually, your breasts will appear more proportional to your body and your clothes will fit better.
A breast reduction candidate may have breasts that are too large in proportion to her body frame, one breast that is much larger than the other or beast size that causes dissatisfaction or self-consciousness. She most likely has heavy, pendulous breasts with nipples and areolas that point downward and suffers from restriction of physical activity due to the size and weight of her breasts. She may also experience physical discomfort, such as indentions in the shoulders from tight bra straps, skin irritations beneath the breasts and back, neck or shoulder pain caused by the weight of her breasts.
Breast Revision
Due to implant-related and natural occurrences, such as breastfeeding, a breast revision is sometimes necessary to correct changes in breast shape and form. Implant malposition, deflation, double-bubble deformity and a desire to change implant size or type are common reasons women seek breast revision surgery.
A good candidate for breast revision may have experienced implant deflation, a shift in implant position or tightening of the scar tissue around the implant. Sometimes breast tissue will change in shape or
volume from skin stretching or weight loss or gain. Or she may simply desire a change in implant or breast size.
Male Breast Reduction
Male breast reduction, or gynecomastia, is a condition that occurs when men develop abnormally large breasts. Although causes are sometimes attributed to certain medications and steroids, there are many unknown sources for this condition. Treatment includes liposuction and/or surgical removal of the excess tissue.
Breast Reconstruction
Many women choose to undergo breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. The surgery does not replace breast tissue and natural sensations will be lost; however, it does attempt to restore normal size, shape and appearance to the breast. This is achieved by creating a breast mound from either an implant or tissue from the stomach, back or buttocks. Additional surgery is usually required to add a nipple and alter the size and/or shape to match the other breast.
